Do I have to have experience playing D&D?
NO! When this course launches, there will be an optional add-on mini-course for beginners that will outline how to play!
Is this training focused on support children or adults?
This training relies heavily on play and creative arts therapies for children, tweens, and teens. It can absolutely be adapted to work with adults, but it isn’t the focus of the training.
What type of therapists can benefit from this training?
So many different therapists can benefit from this! Geared towards therapists working with children, tweens, teens, and young adults, child therapists, creative arts therapists, music therapists, rec therapists, and other would benefit from this course. This training is mostly mental health focused but we incorporate TONS of creative arts and expressive modalities throughout the training.
Do you learn how to run groups in this training?
No, although there will be elements of engaging with your cohort, this training does not teach you how to run D&D groups or group D&D therapy. I HIGHLY recommend Julia Stamanns training at Heart of the Realm for learning about running groups for adults — it was SUCH an amazing training!
We will have a future course dedicated to supporting tween and teen group Dungeons and Dragons Therapy, so stay tuned!
What is your grievance policy?
We are dedicated to providing quality material and educational opportunities that adhere to counseling and mental health ethics. Please read our full policy here.
Is this eligible for CE’s?
At this time, no. In the future I would like to get this training approved for continuing education credits. You will receive a certificate that demonstrates the amount of hours you have completed towards the course plus an outline of learning objectives. You may use this information to apply for credit approval, but this cannot be guaranteed.
